The New Year has begun, and you know what that means… so have the 2026 Winter Olympics!

You might be asking, What does this mean for our Figure Skaters? Well, Lets take a look at some of the major competitions. Some events including: The Continental Champions, National Champions, ISU Grand Prix, and of course, The Grand Prix Final.

If you’re new to the sport, figure skating is divided into 5 separate disciplines: Men’s & Women’s Singles, Pairs & Ice Dance, and a Team Competition. The scores for each of these events are determined by their artistic elements and overall performance quality, to then finally be decided by 9 total judges. The sum of these scores determining the winner of each round.

Starting with the first event of the season, February 6th will hold 3 Team Events: An Ice Dance, Pair Skating, and Women’s Single. Which will then go into a Men’s Single the following day, and eventually a Rhythm Dance on the 8th.

Taking a glance back at 2022’s Olympic Winners, we had;

Nathan Chen (USA) for Men’s Singles

Anna Shcherbakova (ROC) for Women’s Singles

Sui Wenjing & Han Cong (China) for Pairs

Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron (France) For Ice Dance

and finally,

USA ultimately winning the Team Competition after ROC’s unfortunate disqualification.
